Where Have We Been since 2019

I want to welcome everyone back again to my blog pages. Hopefully I can entertain, amuse and perhaps even educate you on some topics.

If anyone recalls in 2019 we returned from our long trip to several countries in Europe. It was very exciting and educational to travel through the various countries.

Back to 2019 when we returned – we ended up spending that year living near our family in Louisiana. Actually we purchased an old 1989 RV with the intention of traveling around the United States for a year. That didn’t work out like we had planned.

Our first trip was a trial run to Texas. However, the RV Gods had a different idea for us. Only 45 minutes into the drive, the RV gave out. Actually, just stopped completely. Now some would think “Oh Hell NO”, but actually it was good the motor gave out there and not 1000’s of miles away from people we know.

We did however sit parked along the Interstate for over 11 hours to have a tow truck haul us back to where we had started.

The RV was repaired and we actually lived in it for a year and half, parked in my daughter’s property. I think we were a little insecure about the RV’s capability of traveling as we originally planned. So we stayed parked and took short day trips during that time. It was great to be around grandkids and family for that amount time. Thinking back, I believe Karma was in our favor ——-

When 2020 came around, everyone was locked down due to the Covid restrictions. I have various thoughts on the Covid lockdown, which I will delve into on another blog.

Before the world was PUT to a complete stop, that March, I went to Cancun with my oldest daughter for a week. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort for a week. She had been invited there by her son and daughter-in-law for a wedding they were to attend. Last minute, they couldn’t go due to being tested for Covid which came back “positive”. It was quite enjoyable, relaxing, tasting different cuisine, laying on the beach, going to a Chef cooking demonstration, etc.

So happy me, I got to take the trip.

Staying at the inclusive resort was different but most enjoyable spending the time with my daughter. We lounged around the compound, drank Mango margaritas for breakfast, had a meal cooked by a chef and just relaxed.

My dear husband, however, was left behind in Louisiana to venture on his own for the week. I could say he stayed out of trouble, but nope and I won’t say how that went. Let’s just say he will have to fill you end if he so wishes.

The remainder of 2020, like everyone else in the world, you had to make enjoyment where you could with limited reaches. By the way, those damn mask don’t really do anything, especially if you are wearing the same one day after day. Again, that’s another topic I get explosive about.

By May 2021, the world was still crazy and Covid was still around, but we decided enough was enough. Loaded up the RV and moved down to Zephyrhills, Florida into an RV park. It was nice to venture into old and new areas of Florida. Living in the RV was a challenge at time, but I did enjoy the cozy space.

We found new places to hangout on those slow afternoon. Drives to the beach was a little long, it took about an hour, but we always enjoyed the trip. Even had our annual visit from one of our grandsons, who has spent the last 5 or 6 summers with us.

Life was slow and different living in the RV, we managed to adjust fine in the limited spaces.

However, like always, nothing seems to be permanent with us.

In February, 2022, we went to Texas to help our daughter with a project and she asked us to come live with her. She recently moved into a large home and wanted us to stay. Like always, we said “yes”

Back to Florida to finish up some business and the RV went into storage for a month and we started the new adventure in Texas.

No worries about the RV, within the first month, someone brought it from us to start their new adventure in life.

I’ve learned a few things over the years and one big lesson – sometimes it’s best just to go with the flow — otherwise I might just miss the time and place the universe is directing me. I still have those times of regret for not having settled somewhere, guilty feelings for not being grandchildren all the time, and not having one place to call home. Then I remember, my lifetime here on earth is shorter every day and adventure await. At least I will be the grandmother who went everywhere and never turned down the opportunity to see and learn. I appreciate the time when I do get to have those hugs from family, which makes the visits even more appreciative. Hopefully this will be the best part of me that my family will remember and they too will be adventurous.

Enjoy your day – look up – hold your gaze forward – let your eyes see what’s ahead – you will find something NEW every time – you just have to be open to the adventure.
